See, Do, Succeed
It’s called modeling and it’s simple as saying, “If that guy can do it, so can I.” But what isn’t obvious is that you’ve already done it a hundred times before. You learned to walk and talk by watching your parents. You repeated their words, asked questions, and wobbled along until one day you walked across that raised stage at Little Sunbeam’s Pre-school graduation.
Yep, you were a rock star at 5-years old in your Osh Kosh dungarees. And you did it because you did it. Copying your way to success is a simple method but it ain’t easy. Successful people are by definition more disciplined than the average person so if you it the only way you prove it is through your actions.
Winston Churchill once said, “I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat.” Toil and tears, does that sound pleasant to you? No, it sounds like it pretty much sucks.
I don’t want to be extreme. Reaching a goal can be exciting and rewarding but there will also be times when it’s monotonous and boring.
I’ve read two books recently. Resilience by ex-Navy Seal Eric Greitens and Steal Like an Artist by Austin Kleon. Both books offer clear and simple techniques to model your way to achievement. But this isn’t an advertisement, you don’t need to read these books to practice modeling, all you need to do is be stubborn and disciplined.
Anyone can dream but anyone can copy their way to success.
The End.
